Liana Mosca, violin


Liana Mosca, born in Zurich, began her violin studies with Lee Robert Mosca at the Suzuki Talent Center in Turin. She continued her studies at the Conservatory G. Verdi in Milan with Osvaldo Scilla, at the Musik Akademie Basel with H. Schneeberger, and at the Vienna Conservatory, as a pupil of the Altenberg Trio.

Her concert career began with the "Gustav Mahler Yugend Orchester" conducted by Claudio Abbado and also as a member of the "Deutsche Kammerakademie", conducted by J. Goritzky. In 1998, she began playing with "Il Giardino Armonico"; an Italian ensemble led by Giovanni Antonini, with performances and tours all over the world. She has performed with Ensemble Baroque de Limoges and Ensemble Claudiana, among others. She has been first violinist with Orchestra 1813, Collegio Musicale Italiano, Musici Estensi, Accademia dei Solinghi, Academia 1750, Icpo, and the Korean National Opera.

Since 2011 she has been a member of the “Furibondo String Trio" with which she has recorded Max Reger String Trio op.141b and op.77b ,F. Fiorillo Six Quatuors Concertants with flutist L. Narcisi and Preludes & Fugues Kv404a by J.S. Bach transcribed by W. A. Mozart. Beyond numerous recordings as a member of "Il Giardino Armonico", she has also recorded two volumes as a soloist dedicated to the “Sonate per violino op. 4” by F.S. Geminiani. She regularly performs as a duo with the Swiss pianist Pierre Goy, with whom she has recorded the “6 Sonatas op. 5” by L. Boccherini for the Label Stradivarius. The “Sonatas op. 5 and op. 7” by J. Ladurner will be out soon.

Since 2024, she has participated in several projects with Utopia, the orchestra founded by Teodor Currentzis.

Also an active teacher, she has taught baroque violin and chamber music at the Conservatory G. Verdi of Turin and held masterclasses at the Conservatories of Mantua, Venice and the Fondation Royaumont. She currently teaches at Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto in Biella and at the Ivrea Cathedral. She is involved in a research group on music for fortepiano and violin supported by the HEMU in Geneva. Se is a Teacher Trainer at the Italian Suzuki Institute (ISI), for which she holds annual teacher training courses.
